Who owns what

  • Angi Inc. is the parent. Its 2025 annual report (10-K) lists Angi, Angie's List, HomeAdvisor and Handy as its brands.
  • HomeAdvisor's terms call Angi "our affiliate," and HomeAdvisor's legal page posts the same Angi Privacy Policy (updated July 15, 2026).
  • Angi Inc. says IAC, its former parent, completed a spin-off on March 31, 2025 and now holds no ownership in it.
  • Thumbtack is a separate company. Its terms name Thumbtack, Inc. as the operator.

How a homeowner request works

Short version: HomeAdvisor says up to four pros may contact you, Thumbtack lets you contact pros and caps that at five in the first four hours, and Angi does not state a number in the terms I read.

  • Angi: You submit a project. Angi's customer agreement says the aim is to connect you with a service provider interested in the job. Angi's annual report says you can review pro profiles and ratings and choose, with no obligation to hire. No pro count is stated.
  • HomeAdvisor: Its ProFinder service tries to match you with up to four pros in your area, with no guarantee of a match. You can also browse a directory with ratings and reviews. HomeAdvisor's terms say they were last updated January 1, 2023 (current version effective January 29, 2024).
  • Thumbtack: You describe the project, see matched pros, and contact the ones you like. Its help center says you can contact up to five pros in the first four hours, and more after that. Other pros may message you first.

What each says about your phone number and contact info

  • Angi: Submitting a request means you consent to calls, texts and email from Angi and its service providers, even if you are on a Do Not Call list. The agreement says Angi or the pros may use autodialed and prerecorded calls, and that consent is not required to buy anything. Angi's privacy policy says some calls and texts may be handled by AI, including on a pro's behalf, and may be recorded. You can ask for a person. The privacy policy says you can opt out of promotional texts and calls at any time, or reply STOP to stop all texts, and warns that stopping all texts may affect the service.
  • HomeAdvisor: Its terms authorize calls from up to four service professionals, and say HomeAdvisor or the pros may use autodialed and prerecorded messages. They also cover promotions and marketing email. Opt-out steps are in the Angi Privacy Policy that HomeAdvisor's legal page posts.
  • Thumbtack: Its help center says your number is shared only with pros you decide to contact, and pros who message you first do not see it unless you reply. Its terms say that with your consent, Thumbtack, customers and pros may call or text you. Its privacy policy (updated September 14, 2026) says it may use automated tools, including artificial-voice or AI-powered messaging, and may record communications made through its features. You can unsubscribe from promotional email, and opt out of tailored advertising through its "Do not Sell or Share" link.

Cost for homeowners and how pros pay

  • Angi: Free to request quotes and compare, per Angi's FAQ answer dated November 17, 2023 and its annual report. Angi Key is a paid annual membership, per Angi's FAQ and customer agreement. Pros pay lead fees, membership packages, advertising or referral fees, per the annual report.
  • HomeAdvisor: Its FAQ says you are not charged. Pros pay a fee for each lead plus advertising fees.
  • Thumbtack: Its help center says finding, contacting and hiring a pro is free; you pay the pro directly. Pros pay for leads that match their preferences, and pay for "opportunities" only if the customer responds.

What the big platforms do that we don't

  • Reviews and profiles. Angi and HomeAdvisor show ratings and reviews. Thumbtack shows profiles, reviews, photos, and license details for pros who verified them.
  • Choosing and comparing. You can contact several pros and pick one. We send your request to one.
  • Guarantees. Angi's Happiness Guarantee (terms dated April 21, 2025) covers services paid for through its platform, with reperformance or compensation and set reporting windows. Thumbtack's guarantee page describes money-back protection up to $2,500 and property damage protection up to $100,000, with deadlines and conditions. Read the terms before relying on either.
  • Reach and tools. Angi's annual report cites more than 500 categories and about 16 million projects in 2025. Thumbtack says it serves customers nationwide and offers in-app messaging and, for eligible services, booking.

How Omaha HVAC Help differs

If one contractor and no cost fits what you want, you can get a free quote.

  • Your request goes to one independent local contractor, not several.
  • It is free for you.
  • We are not an HVAC contractor. Agentic Consulting LLC runs this referral service.
  • If we cannot find a contractor for your request, we tell you.
  • We have no reviews, profiles or guarantees, so use how to choose an HVAC contractor to check any contractor yourself.
